Yields 8 portions
- 16 limes
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 cups cachaça
- Crushed ice, as needed
- 1 lime, thinly sliced
- Cut the limes in half lengthwise, remove the white pith in the center, and cut into wedges. Divide the limes and sugar between 8 cocktail glasses and, using a wooden pestle or similar tool, crush the sugar and limes together until the sugar dissolves.
- Add 2 fl oz of cachaça to each glass. Fill each glass with ice and cover with the lid of a cocktail shaker. Vigorously shake each cocktail individually for several seconds and strain the contents into a new glass.
- Garnish with a lime wedge and serve immediately.
