Makes 8 servings
Ingredients
- 1 cup dried hibiscus flowers
 - 1 cup sugar
 - 2 quarts boiling water
 - 8 small mint leaves, for garnish (optional)
 
Directions
- Pour boiling water over hibiscus flowers and sugar. Stir and let steep for at least an hour, then strain and cool. Garnish with a mint leaf, if desired. The hibiscus water can be served hot or iced.
 
Chef’s Note: Basil can be substituted for the hibiscus flowers to make basil water.
