Planter’s Punch was first documented in the New York Times in 1908. The drink’s origins are unknown, but they include connections to the Planter’s Hotel in St. Louis and a planter’s wife in Jamaica. Whatever this delicious creation hails from, this drink can be enjoyed in a variety of ways with curaçao, bitters, or fresh fruit juice such as pineapple and orange.
Ingredients
- Crushed ice, for serving
 - 2 oz dark rum
 - 1 oz lime juice
 - 1/2 oz lemon juice
 - 1/2 oz grenadine
 - 1/2 bar spoon sugar
 - Lime wheel, for garnish
 
Directions
- Fill a highball glass with crushed ice.
 - Shake the rum, lime and lemon juices, grenadine, and sugar together and strain into the glass. Garnish with a lime wheel, straw, and serve.
